Simon Smith lives in Port Talbot with his wife Rachel and daughter Elle. By trade he is an English teacher and Head of Year in a local comprehensive school, but he is also a writer, his output spanning a number of genres from poetry to nature writing.
As a poet, Simon has published work in numerous journals including Ariadne’s Thread, Dawntreader and The Journal, as well as on a number of online platforms such as Allegro Poetry and Naturewriting.com.
Simon also writes extensively as a nature writer and essayist, and has published pieces in magazines and online platforms such as Caught by the River, Countryman, Creative Countryside, The Clearing and Welsh Country.
A keen angler, Simon has contributed extensively to a number of angling journals and magazines, including Waterlog and Fallon’s Angler, and is a current contributor to Sea Angler magazine. Simon has published two books of angling-themed essays and poetry: Running with the Tide, published by the Medlar Press in 2013, and Waiting for a Hunter’s Moon, published by Cambria Books in 2021.
Simon is a member of the Angling Writer’s Association.
