Laura Wainwright was born in Cardiff and grew up in Newport, South Wales, where she still lives. She has been a Magma ‘New Selected’ poet and her poetry has twice been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize. She was awarded a Literature Wales Writer’s Bursary in 2019 to write her first poetry pamphlet, Air and Armour, which was published by Green Bottle Press in 2021. Laura is also the author of the critical book, New Territories in Modernism: Anglophone Welsh Writing, 1930-1949 (University of Wales Press, 2018). She was awarded a PhD in Literature from Cardiff University, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
