Born in mid-Wales in 1988, Emily-Jo Hopson was raised in a tumble-down cottage in Powys by her artist parents, Kevan and Joy Hopson. Throughout a childhood spent surrounded by the visual arts in galleries, in school art departments, on painting holidays and in her father’s studio, she knew from the age of five that the written word was for her. She received her combined honours degree in Creative Writing and History in 2011 and a master’s degree in Creative Writing in 2012. After graduating, Emily-Jo published several poems and short stories, and worked full-time as copywriter for a tool retailer. In 2015, she won a Literature Wales Writer’s Bursary to work on her first novel. She has been extensively redrafting her novel in her spare time and hopes one day to bring it into the light of day.
